Covid-19 & Diving Information
Covid-19 has caused us to change the way we do many things, including scientific diving at Cal Poly. Of utmost concern to our diving health is the condition of our respiratory and circulatory systems and Covid-19 has been shown to have adverse affects on those systems.
The Cal Poly Diving Control Board has designated specific protocols for diving the Covid-19 pandemic. These protocols list changes to personal diving equipment, equipment sanitation procedures, and diving practices.
The UC San Diego has developed guidelines for the evaluation of scuba divers following exposure to Covid-19, which have been adopted by the Cal Poly Diving Control Board. These guidelines detail what medical evaluations should be made following various levels of Covid-19 symptoms. If you have been exposed to or have tested positive to Covid-19, please follow these guidelines before returning to diving.
Remember, your health not only affects your safety while diving, but the safety of your dive buddy and your entire dive team.
