MSCI 410 Prerequisites
Prerequisite Ability, Training, and Experience
- Swimming Skills (administered during 1st day of class)
- Swim 400 yards in under 12 minutes
- Swim 25 yards underwater with one breath
- Tread water for 10 minutes
- Transport another person 50 yards in water
- Diving Certifications
- Required: Openwater certification from a nationally recognized certifying agency
- Recommended: Advanced and/or Rescue certifications

- Diving Experience
- Required: 10 dives logged beyond those conducted in your certification course(s).
- Recommended: 20 dives logged in cold water

- First Aid Training
- Current 1st Aid certification
- Current CPR & AED certification
- Oxygen Administration will be covered as part of the course.
- Medical Evaluation for Diving

- Required Equipment and Services

- Health Insurance that covers hyperbaric treatment and diving injuries
- A Diver's Alert Network (DAN) insurance package is recommended, however any health insurance is acceptable, as long as you can provide documentation that it covers hyperbaric treatment for diving injuries.
